Timber House Float - Winner: Best Commercial Float
Applefest Parade 2008
Pictured above is our prize winning Applefest Parade entry. Our float's theme was "Go Local!", emphasising our 10 years of service to the local community. We were very pleased to hear our float was judged the best commercial float in the parade. We certainly approve of the judges' selection!
Our float was the brain child of Ralph Beeler. Ralph suggested putting a float in the parade and generously offered not only his tractor and services as a driver, but also his antique trailer on which the float was built. The design of the float was a team affair. Team members included Ralph and Wendy Beeler, Donna and Jack Dingle, Susie Wake and Greg Nugent, Debbie Sakawsky and Jackie Finlay (team riders), Cheryl Miller (team photographer), Dave Dingle and partner Michele Walkau.
Timber House float riders participating in the hugely enjoyable parade also included Melissa and Ilora, whose candies, charm and enthusiasm no-doubt were key factors in the judges' decision.
Plans for next year's float are already well advanced. Recruiting efforts for next year's riders are focused on getting Sam and Hunter on board with Ilora and Melissa.
